Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re curious about coaching but not quite ready to reach out, this guide will help.

General Coaching Questions

Most programs offer a formula. I offer a partnership.

DMNFIT was built for real life—not quick fixes. We use habit-based coaching rooted in behavioral science, so you build consistent habits that actually stick.

Our coaching is structured, personalized, and designed to help gay men over 40 navigate body image, aging, stress, and health—without pressure or perfection.

Not at all. Whether you’re starting from scratch, returning after a break, or just want to feel more confident in your body, we meet you exactly where you are—without judgment.

This isn’t a bootcamp, detox, or fad diet. We don’t flip your life upside down and expect you to keep up. We focus on realistic, sustainable shifts that fit your actual lifestyle—so the results actually last.

DMNFIT was built for gay men 40+ because we’ve been underserved in the wellness space. That said, our coaching is open to anyone who aligns with our values—LGBTQ+ community members and allies are always welcome.

Coaching Process & Structure

We work in coaching cycles—one core habit every two weeks.

Each habit is introduced, practiced, reviewed, and adjusted as needed. Clients receive weekly guidance and check-ins, plus a bi-weekly personalized coaching touchpoint. It’s structured—but flexible.

It’s a low-pressure, honest conversation where we:

  • Talk about your goals, challenges, and previous attempts
  • Clarify what success looks like for you
  • See if we’re the right fit

DMNFIT’s core program is designed to span 12 months—because sustainable change takes time.

Most clients start seeing results in 3–6 months, but staying for the full year builds deeper habits, confidence, and resilience.

Not sure if a year feels doable? Let’s talk. We’ll meet you where you are—and adjust accordingly.

Right now, I only coach clients who include nutrition as part of the process.

Why? Because nutrition is the foundation of health. I’d love to support your movement goals—but only if we’re also working on how you fuel and care for your body outside the gym.

Nutrition & Fitness

Nope. If fitness is part of your goals, we’ll create a movement plan that fits your lifestyle—gym workouts, home-based routines, or even just moving more throughout your day.

No, because following someone else’s plan doesn’t teach you how to fuel yourself.

Instead, I’ll help you:

  • Build flexible, balanced meals that work for your body and lifestyle
  • Make better food choices without cutting out the foods you love
  • Understand portions using a simple, science-backed visual method

You’ll learn how to eat in a way that supports your goals—and actually lasts. No rigid rules. Just real skills.

Not necessarily. Most of the time, we use a simple, hand-portion method that’s easy to follow and fits into real life—no food scales or apps required. It’s flexible, effective, and removes the stress of constant tracking.

However, in some cases—like when you’re just starting out or if progress stalls—we might briefly track your food to get a clear picture of your current habits and patterns.

The goal is never perfection or obsession. You won’t be judged or expected to micromanage every bite. Instead, we’ll focus on building awareness and staying honest—because when you understand what’s really going on, you can make more confident, informed choices.

Tracking, when used, is just a temporary tool—not a forever rule.

You’re not alone—and there’s no shame in it.

Together, we’ll work on:

  • Identifying your emotional triggers
  • Building awareness around patterns and habits
  • Creating supportive, non-food-based coping strategies

This isn’t about relying on willpower. It’s about understanding your needs and creating a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food—and with yourself.

No. At DMNFIT, there are no “forbidden foods.” Because food isn’t good or bad—it’s just… food.

I coach clients to view nutrition as a spectrum, not a rulebook. Some foods are great to eat often. Others are better saved for special moments. But they all have a place.

You won’t be asked to give up the foods you love. Instead, you’ll learn how to enjoy them in a way that supports your goals—and strengthens your relationship with food along the way.

Mindset & Motivation

That’s completely normal—motivation comes and goes.

That’s why we focus on what keeps you going even when motivation dips:

  • Simple, repeatable systems
  • Sustainable, habit-based routines
  • Consistent support and accountability

You don’t have to feel “on” all the time to make progress. That’s exactly what coaching is here to help with.

Plateaus happen—it’s part of the process.

If progress slows down or stalls, we’ll look at your habits, sleep, stress, and energy. And sometimes, we’ll use a short food diary or tracking period to get a clearer picture of what’s really going on.

When we know more, we can adjust with confidence and keep you moving forward

Yes—within the scope of coaching, of course.

Many of my clients come in carrying decades of pressure around appearance, weight, and identity. We don’t ignore that. Instead, we work to shift the focus toward strength, confidence, energy, and health—on your terms.

That said, body image issues can be deeply rooted. If at any point it seems like support from a licensed mental health professional would be helpful, I’ll gently bring it up. Your well-being matters too much for us to pretend it’s just about the surface.
